Knitting for Friends

Our friends Sara and Kris commissioned me to do some projects for them.

Kris wanted, what else, a pirate hat!

The colors she picked were so, ahem, muted, I had to add a bright red stripe to the lining, just for my own amusement.

Sara wanted some socks. And not only did she want socks, she wanted Pomatomus socks. Now, I know it's my own fault for showing her the pattern, but still, Pomatomus and I do no have a great history together.

Luckily, it seems to be going much smoother this time. I am ready to work on the heel of the first sock, and so far, no major problems. (FYI, the yarn is Lisa Souza Sock! Merino in Mombassa.)

Now, we all know knitting for others is its own reward, but a skein of Lisa Souza Sock! Merino certainly doesn't hurt!

Pretty!

How is the Lisa Souza compared to Koigu?

OK that's it -- off to order yarn for the pirate hat. It looks great!

I LOVE your pirate hat! I'll have to add some color to my lining next time .. great idea!

I can't wait to see all the Lisa Souza yarn in person at Stitches West! I'm definitely going to pick me up some of that yarn!

Any advice for someone attempting Pomatomus for the first time?

I love the pirates hat, the color in the lining is a nice touch.

You're a very good friend knitting poms for Sara, she's a lucky girl.

You are going to be able to knit those Pirates in your sleep before it's over. Beautiful socks. I guess I am going to have to work through my issues and try to knit a pair of socks.

Thanks! I love the red stripe on the inside of the hat. I'm all for making the inside of garmets pretty, even if no one ever sees is.

That yarn is knitting up beautifully with the pattern...wow.
Yes, folks, that yarn is truly beautiful.....helped wind that baby up, amazingly pretty, and always soft.

Wow, those socks look complicated! I've never tried anything that hard, before. Yours look great, though.

Apparently I'm not the only one who's caught the fair isle bug. Isn't it fun? So much more exciting than anything else I've got on the needles these days!
