Whining
I just soooo wish I had a ball winder (hee, hee--yes, I'm 12). I'm thinking about all the lovely yarn that is making its way to me, all tied up in skeins, and how on earth I am going to transform it into something useable.
I've been looking at ball winders and think I would like a Royal Wool Winder. Such a cute name, and seems ideal for home use.
Anyone have any other recommendations?
I am also thinking of buying one of these:
My husband and I have been sharing a car for three years, and since I work from home, he always takes the car. Buying a scooter is way cheaper than buying a second car, and one gallon of gas in this baby can get you 90 miles! This is a Verucci 150 Retro Sport model. Anyone know anything about these, or other good scooters?
I'm very needy today!

joann sells two different ball winders, the most expensive is about $40. i did a search for joann coupons and found this...

there is a code for 50% off any one item (they usually have this coupon up monthly i've realized) but yay, you save 1/2 off!
I'm looking too but still holding off til next paycheck.
Hope this helps.
I have that ball winder and it's great. The only problem is I don't have a swift yet, but it's still so much faster to wind balls of yarn with it than by hand!
I don't know much about scooters, but I love them. So cute :)
I got the Royal. Best investment ever. But do you have a swift? Definitely a package deal...and much cheaper than the scooter.
I've never used a ball winder, but oh, how I would love a scooter. I've had my eye on the Stella for a long time...unfortunately, that's all I'll have on them because they run about $3,000. But they get approx. 90 miles per gallon...and did I mention how pretty they are?

And thanks for the birthday wishes! Good luck with your purchases.
I was just going to comment that if you go to Joann's online, you can get a 40% or 50% off coupon and then get the ball winder and swift at a discount. I haven't bought these yet, but I covet them. Greatly.
I kinda covet a scooter too, but I think I'd be too scared on one. Especially in Tulsa where you take your life in your hands if you're a pedestrian or a cyclist! I suppose a scooter might be a bit safer than a bicycle.
You definitely need both swift and ball winder unless you can talk Paul into standing for long periods of time holding out his arms with yarn wound around them... I actually was pretty successful at getting Victor to do the winding while I held the skeins.. it is a gadget so he had to do the cranking!
I had a honda spree one of the first years they came out (a million years ago) got it as a graduation present. Took it to college and drove it everywhere ( and into the ground). loved it to death, perfect for me then.
I think you need one! Don't know much about the brands now, the pic sure is cute!!
I got a Royal and I love it.
I wish I had a scooter like that!
Thanks for visiting my blog. The Royal is the way to go. I've had mine for 8+ years. I also recommend a Swedish-made wooden (birch) swift. Can't remember the company name, but they are very common. I can't imagine winding by hand--argh!
I second the "I want a ball winder..." whine. I have to borrow a friend's everytime I want to wind up some skeins - doing it by hand is just too tedious. I really should get my own tho...cuts into my yarn fund is the only problem... ;-) Good luck with the scooter - it looks like fun!
Emma do you want to go to the movies with me this weekend to see X-Men? Check a box:

A ball winder is definitely wonderful, especially after all the dyeing, you need an efficient tool to make life easier. As for the scooter, try a toyota echo small car,it is much safer than jetting around in a scooter .:)
I'm on my second Aprilia scooter - this one is very big - 500cc - my first was a scarebeo 150cc - I loved it, but not very stable on the highway. I love the one I have now - the Atlantic and I highly recommend scooter travel.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, its great hearing from new faces!
I would definately recommend buying a royal ball winder, I have one and it is so addictive, everything in sight will be wound up when you get one! I haven't got a swift yet but its on the list, so until then its using backs of chairs into a ball and then wound on the ball winder. So pretty!
