Promising Pomatomus Progess--And A Storm!
So we had a little thunderstorm here in Tulsa this afternoon, which is great for drought-stricken Oklahoma.
I love thunderstorms, but this one got kind of scary really fast, but my favorite local weather guy wasn't worried, so neither was I. The picture above is what it looked like right before it started raining. And please note, this was not a nighttime storm--this was at a quarter til two in the afternoon.
The picture at right is the tree in front of my house. The rain was just pouring down.
I finished knitting the crazy striped socks meant for my sister, finally. Just your basic sock pattern with Regia self-striping yarn on size 1 needles. I tried really hard to make them identical twin socks, but despite my best efforts, they are fraternal twins. *sigh* Eddie certainly seems to like them though.
A little bit of indulgence this afternoon. I got some Koigu Painter's Palette yarn for some new socks. I don't know what the color is, but it looks nice in my bathroom!
And, finally, Pomatomus progress. I'm just about done with the first of three pattern repeats, and, knock-on-wood, it seems to be progressing nicely at this point. I know I have made some mistakes along the way, specifically with not keeping my knits and purls lined up the way they were supposed to be, but I don't think the mistakes are noticeable, and I pledge to pay better attention with Repeat Number 2! And because I've gotten a few questions about it, the yarn is Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Spanish Moss.

Your Pomatomus is looking really good so far. Keep up the good work. I like the yarn colors...can you tell me what brand it is?
very cool! they look good from here.... also love the stipey socks! I hardly knit at all this weekend:(
Is that Lorna's laces yarn? It is gorgeous. What lovely shades.
Thanks for the comment,
I love the colors of the socks, and the face on the tree of course!
wow that looks like one heck of a storm... we get storms like that in louisiana, but we're in a drought right now so no rain :-(
your poma sock is looking really good, I think you totally figured out the YO! be sure to try it on... you're at about the point I realized mine was too small, so I had to rip it out... i love those colors tho, that's gonna be purdy!
Wow! The Pomatomus look fabulous! Well done. They'll be awesome.
The other socks are great. Your sister is one lucky person!
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Your Pomatomus is looks really nice. I just love the colors. I will knock on wood for you and me because this is the most challenging sock pattern I have ever done to date, but I love the way it is coming out.
Pomatomus seems to be the popular sock pattern right now. I've been tempted to make them myself. Good luck with yours!
Lookin' good! And don't you just love the Cherry Tree Hill? I'm using mine in the Peacock colorway.
The Pomatomus are so pretty. Thank you for the compliment you left for me on the verbena yarn.
I thought the p-socks would look good in Spanish Moss. I have some mistakes in mine too. Thanks for looking at mine. The sky looks like AL last week.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for the kind comments re. my first pair of socks!
I have to say, though, that when I came over here and saw YOUR first pair of socks -- and the beautiful Cascading Leaves that were only your SECOND pair -- it made me feel rather sheepish! You are a beautiful sock knitter...I'm not even in the Cascading Leaves ballpark yet, much less for my second pair!
What a storm, looks as if it was really scary.
Sox rock btw!!!!!
Like the book by Margaret George thats on your nightstand. I read it years ago and really enjoyed it....infact i might just go and re-read it as I just love scottish history.
That is one scary-looking storm.
I love the crazy striped socks--the colors remind me of sherbet or something. Also, your cat Eddie looks so much like my parent's cat Randy...gotta love those orange and white kitties! :)
Wow, what a storm.
I really like your 'hippo' socks, especially taken with the blue fish.
Saw coverage of that scary storm on the news...I'm glad you're ok! I really enjoyed looking at all your socks and the pics of your babies, especially Elly...my parents have a mini schnauzer, so they're close to my heart. :-)
I love the tree face! The socks are awesome too! Knit on...
oooh, pretty!! Love that color!!
Hey Emma, thanks for visiting! Hey is it just me or does that tree have a face???
Your socks are amazing - you look like you have been doing it for years and given the patterns you have been picking you are a sock rocking sister! Sock on!
Thanks for visiting my blog! Your socks are amazing! I've never realy been able to get into knitting socks.
Anyhow, I love your creative yarn displays! Much better than my 'just toss it on the couch' approach.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the face on the tree and enjoyed seeing the pictures of the storm as I had been hearing of it on the news. Have fond memories of a trip through your area a couple of years ago.
Careful with that Koigu! It can become an obsession (but does make lovely socks). I'll be interested to see what pattern you choose to make with it.
Hi,
Thanks for visiting my blog...and I think your socks are great...and, Eddie seems to think they are cool - so that should be all that counts.
BTW, I have friends who live in Tulsa...and we looked at moving there before we came here...but, from the looks of that storm I'm glad right now we didn't....
Oooh, I have some of that Regia in my stash, it looks great knit up!
The socks look great. Love the colourway you've chosen. The Koigu looks lovely too.
Your socks look great. I love the blue colorway on that last picture!
I want to try those socks too. I got a kick out of your bathroom decor. I never thought of putting yarn in the bathroom, but why not? It's everywhere else! Enjoyed my visit.
Congratulations on mastering the Pomatomus socks they look lovely and I love your KPPM - I've been looking at getting some of that to knit socks with too. It's so nice to find others who are sock obsessed as well! I love your finished "sister" socks too - very inspiring.
