Cascading Leaves....Eventually

This is the start of a pair of socks I am making for my mom with Gems Pearl merino yarn. I'm going to attempt the Cascading Leaves pattern, which should be interesting. I've never tried anything this fancy before, so we'll see how it turns out. If anyone has any good tips on how to make sure you're staying on the right line of the pattern, please let me know. I have the feeling it's going to be a challenge.

Good luck with your socks! To make sure I'm on the correct line when knitting I use a post it note and move it to the line I'm working on. When I leave my knitting I either put it under the next line or write on it where I left off. I also heard there is a new product called Highlighting Tape. It comes on a roll like scotch tape and is colored and repositional. I've yet to find it in the store!
