Ah, If Only

If only it were this easy to duplicate a finished sock....

Yes, I finished the first of the pair last night, which means I went from working the ribbing on Wednesday to completely finishing, Kitchener and all, Friday evening.

Below is a photo of Cascading Leaves with leaves that have yet to cascade.

And, yes, I have already cast on for the second sock.

I know it LOOKS like I'm only knitting pink socks, but I have actually just this week ordered some black sock yarn from knitpicks, some Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Spanish Moss, AND some STR in Marbles. Can't wait for all of those to get here. I will post pictures when they do, of course.

And it was just a few weeks ago while yarn shopping with Sue that I remarked, "I would NEVER pay $20.00 for a pair of socks!" Guess I should know by now, never say never.

Anyway, I don't know yet what I'm going to do with the STR, but I'm making some socks for me with the black yarn, maybe in Cascading Leaves again because it's a totally fun pattern. The Cherry Tree Hill is for the Pomatomus Knit Along, which I'm hoping is not going to be beyond my skill set. I've got the pattern printed, but I'm not sure what's the best way to follow a chart like that, so any suggestions, tips, or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Also, suggestions on what to do with the STR would be fun, so send 'em in!

I know exactly how you feel - I finished the first "watermelon" sock for Jason 2 weeks ago, and he's been whining since for me to do the second one. SIGH.

Your CLs look great and finishing one in 5 days is really fast!

You are a sock knitting machine! Laughing out loud about the photocopy machine for duplicating socks! I've thought about STR yarn myself, but have been unable to justify the price tag....though, I haven't actually seen this yarn in person yet, either, so that could change things, because I do plan at some point to have me a look up close at some of that yarn!

Beautiful job!! I've been looking at that Pomatomus pattern too! Either that or the sock pattern on the new spring knitty... can't remember the name. I'll probably make them both... someday.

I wouldn't worry about the skill level, I think you're up to anything you set your mind to. Just look at all the beautiful things you've already done.

Thanks, Emma! Those are not the Sizzlers, but they may become the Rde Hotties if my other yarn doesn't arrive soon. :0) You will be fine on the Pomatomus socks, and if not, just email me.! I will be glad to help out if I can, ok? Love the Cascading Leaves! Way to go.

Hi! I'm part of the Pomatomus knitalong too, so I clicked over here from there. Your Cascading Leaves look fabulous (pink is my favourite colour), and I'm sure you won't have any problems with the Poms. I had to rip out my first attempt, but then on my second attempt, something just clicked in the pattern after a few rows, and now I'm totally getting it. I'm sure you will too.

I don't think a girl can have to many pink socks. Especially that pink. You just look down at your feet and go "YESSSSSSSSSS, GO MEEE!"
Now if we could just knit one sock and make a copy of the other in the copy machine, we would be in hog heaven
They look really great

Hi! Thanks for the nice comment on my blog. How did you find me? BTW, your socks are beautiful. I am a sock virgin but working on my first pair. Wish me lots of luck. I WILL need it! :)

Congrats on finishing the cascading leaves sock. Yes, if only it were this easy to duplicate the first one!! :o) Looks like a lovely pattern - was it relatively easy to do? Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving me an encouraging message. :o) - Terri - Lilypily Yarns http://lilypilyyarns.blogspot.com/

I'm fairly new to the sock knitting world but that Cascading Leaves pattern looks gorgeous! And I love the idea of the photocopier for the second sock...ah if only...

Thanks for your comments. Your socks look great! They are addicting, aren't they (even if they sometimes give us trouble)?

I like the baby cable from Sensational Socks. (That is what my sockpal socks are, and it works well with the striping on STR.)
It may be a little too easy for you, though, if you like complex patterns.

Very nice sock! I noticed that you used Cascade Fixation on another pair of socks. I have a nice slipstitch pattern for socks that use Fixation. It's easy (except for the short row heel and toe) and knits up quickly. It might work well with the blue that you bought.

That is a nice looking sock! I totally understand the "Second Sock Syndrome" and unfortunately for me it is usually contagious and spreads to mittens, sleeves, and handwarmers. :)

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I see nothing wrong with knitting only pink socks! I love pink...

Look at all those pink socks! Hehe.

I used to have a best friend who was a mini-Schnauzer as well. She passed away about 10 years ago and I still miss her. They are very devoted companions.

Nice job on the first sock. I find the funner the pattern the less trouble I have with second sock syndrome. I'm already down to the heel flap for my second sockapalooza sock, cuz the pattern is really fun.

Nothing wrong with pink socks. I could knit only pink socks for a year, and be perfectly content. ;-)

Love the photocopier. "If only", indeed! No more second sock syndrome, unless the toner runs out.

The sock looks great! I love the feel of finishing sock #1 and hate the thought of going through it a second time.

Great sock! I love the CL -- wish I were knitting that instead of the Simply Lovelies!

Thanks for your comment on my blog...

Your cascading leaves sock looks fantastic. I bet you'll love working with the CTH for your Pomatomus sock - I know I do. I have severe 2nd sock syndrome too. Do you think it would be abated at all if you alternated sock patterns? Like, if you did one sock in pattern A, then one sock in pattern B, then back to pattern A, then back to pattern B? Something to contemplate...

Those are so pretty! I love the pink!

yeah, if only it was that easy, isn't it? LOL..

Great sock, Emma! I made a pair of the Cascading Leaves in pink, too... for my niece. At the rate you're going, you'll have the second sock done in no time!

Very nice socks! I was knitting a lot of green socks for a while, so I forced myself to use purple for my most recent pair.
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Most of my readers (i.e. family members) don't knit, and so can't fully appreciate the joys of sock knitting.

Wow! I wish I could knit plain socks as quickly as you knit up this lace sock. It's so pretty too.

Pink socks rule! Really, why knit any other color sock?

Hi from Austria! I absolutely love the socks you've been doing - you're certainly a speed knitter! And well - a girl can never have enough socks, especially when they're pink!

Catherine Kerth said...

i love them! i am about done with my first sock of the cascading leaves pair... great pattern!

Can't say I'd ever pay $20 for a store-bought pair of machine-made socks, but $20 for some nice sock yarn is an easy thing to do. LOL

Your finished socks are wonderful.
