Taking Shape

Thank you so much for all the kind words on my last post. I read all the comments through tears! It's been a strange week with Annie gone, but I think all of us are starting to adjust. If you are reading this, please take a moment and send out some good vibes for Annie.

ETA: Paul told me this had been updated, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to look at it, but I did. It made me sad, but I am posting it here in hopes that someone local is interested--Annie's Adoption Page.

Ok, now onto long-absent knitting content.

Tangled Yoke is finally looking like an actual sweater! I attached the sleeves last night, after finally figuring out what the pattern was trying to tell me. It was none too clear, and took some time to get it together. And then, with 388 stitches, my KnitPicks cable broke.

The end join came right off the cable, leaving many stitches just dangling. I got those picked up, switched cables (because when I ordered the 40" cable, I forgot they came two to a package, and ordered two packages. Which turns out to be a good thing), and then the second cable did the same thing!

I then put the whole thing on waste yarn, switched cables again, testing them by making Paul pull on both ends as hard as he could, transferred the stitches back on to the new cable, then went on my merry way.

Next up: the cables. Is it crazy that I am attempting this with Fetching my only other previous cable experience?

you and I are in the same place! We can hold hands through the cables.

What a bummer about the cables breaking, I had that happen once with mine because I hadn't tightened enough. Lesson learned!

Life without a loved one is so hard - I'm glad you're on the healing road.

I had a lot of trouble with attaching the sleeves also. Hang in there! It's a wonderful sweater when it's done.

Your TY is looking GOOD! what's up with those cables breaking though...
It's not crazy at all... you'll do just fine AND have fun with them!

Sending Annie love :^)

I had to give the Tangled Yoke sleeve addition several reads too. I am glad I am not alone.
The only other cables I have done is the Brea bag. I have a few suggestions for the chart.
1. Realize the setup row is read LEFT TO RIGHT. (I didn't bother to read that at first.)
2. Color code your chart. It seriously helps.
3. Lifelines!
Your TYC is looking fantastic. :)

Not crazy at all! If I can do cables, anyone can! I do funny looking cables sometimes...but I can do 'em. There's no doubt in my mind that you will rock the cables.

Sweater is looking great! You'll do fine with the cables, you're a whiz!

I had a couple of cables break from my knit picks options set, just like yours. Call them they'll send you new- no questions asked- apparently it's a known issue.

sending Annie hugs and scritches.

My buttons came from Stitches if you want to check them out for your sweater.

Your TYC looks beautiful despite allof the difficulties. Maybe now that it's over with it will go smoothly from here on out.

Sending some love for Annie.

How is your hand...better?

I think you'll do fine on the cables. Small traveling type cables are easier than big bulky ones, at least to me. They are more work, but easier to deal with.

you do cables once and they're de-mystified.
i can't wait to see it all finished!

Hi! Sending good vibes that Annie will find a good home. You did the best you could. Tangled Yoke has been called Strangled Yoke by some knitters (not me). I'm a new cabler myself (love it!) so I admire you boldness in knitting Tangled Yoke. Good luck. Damn those broken cables!

naw, Fetching was the warm-up cabling and now you are doing the main event! And it looks like a gold medal run to me...if you'll pardon my continuing the analogy!
