A Pair of Socks

Hey, I never said it was a matching pair!

These are the Monkey socks I am making for myself. So pretty. I love these colors, and the yarn works really well with the pattern. Yarn, by the way, is from WhiteWillow.

The other pair is the Waving Lace Socks for my Sockapalooza pal. Also from WhiteWillow. The color was supposed to be a blend of Tiffany box blues, but it looks more like a swimming pool to me. The yarn is so soft and when you put the sock on, it almost feels like slipping your foot ito a swimming pool on a hot day.

The downside is I'm not that crazy about the pattern. It seems rather bland to me, but I think my pal will like it. What do you guys think?

We don't do much gardening around here, as you can tell from the grassy state of the flowerbed in front of our house. But today we weeded the whole thing and pulled up as much of the stubborn roots as we could. We're still debating on what to plant there, but here's my visual representation of how I would like it to look:
Lastly, Oliver says hi!

Hi Oliver! You are a cutie!!!

I'm really intrigued by the Monkey Socks and am adding it to my summer knitting list. We'll see how far I get. Yours came out great and are quite an inspiration!

Hi Oliver!

Both socks are gorgeous!
Heh, I really like those pink flowers, you're pretty...handy!

If you feel the need to rip out a sock, the pattern is a bit blah for the yarn. It's still pretty though, and if I received it as a gift, I would find no fault with it.

I want a house, with a garden. *wahhh* I hate apartment living!!

Hi to you too, Oliver.

I like both socks and was actually considering making the blue ones.

I made a pair waving lace socks last year and I love them. They're plain old green socks, but they're one of my fav pairs.

Socks look great, I like them both!

Garden looks good too... if I remember correctly that's a south facing bed, right? You might ask Marianne or Kathy what would do well there... they are gardener girls.

If it were me I'd go for the lowest maintenance ( gardening is just one more thing to encroach on knitting time!) Good luck with whatever you decide. See you at knit night!

Oliver is a cutie!! I think the blue socks look fine, the yarn has enough going on with it. However, you're the only one that can really decide if you're happy with it.

Thanks for the comment and encouragement on my blog! It's always nice when a random knitter tags me like that!

I loooove the socks! They look fantastic! And your kitty is so adorable. She reminds me of my our kitty, Mavy.

I am soooo loving the waving lace socks!! I really like that pattern. It is too cool. Your Monkey sock is great. It is a great pattern, looks impressive - but not too tough. (BTW thanks for your support on frogging! It really helped).

I love both socks -- the colours in the Monkeys are scrumptious, and the blues are nice in the other pair! Nice work -- looking forward to seeing their mates soon.

Hey - they look like a perfect matching pair to me!!
I especially like the Waving Lace - your sockapalooza pal is lucky!!

Gorgeous socks!!! Thanks for your suggestion, reminding me that even people in the South love wool socks. I will remember that. I'm going to Knitting Camp and will pick up some nice wool sock yarn there, to make the socks extra special. Meg Swansen will have touched the yarn!!

Great single socks, both of them.

I love both socks! I definitely want to make the Monkey socks some day, especially since I have started a love affair with Crystal Palace's Panda Cotton sock yarn and it works great on size 2 needles (which is what Monkey calls for). Right now I am knitting up a Jaywalker.

Thanks for sharing! :)

I love the socks, the blue is so very pretty. I need take a picture of some of my beds and have you do some of your "flower magic" on them.

Yay for single socks :) They both look great! I like the Waving Lace pattern-- it has enough going on to be interesting, but it doesn't compete with the lovely yarn.

Both of those yarns are sooo gorgeous. I knit a pair of Waving Lace Socks last year, and they are my favorite socks. I've thought about making another pair! I think your sock pal would love them.

Hi there! I love both socks, and I definitely don't think the blues are too blah. I was actually admiring how well the yarn was suited to the pattern before I read that! If you're unhappy, though, then I say rip. Oh, and Oliver is a cutie!

If only gardening was that easy!
The colors of the two socks are so wonderful! I think the pattern of the blue sock is just fine.

Fair's fair, a pair's a pair!! I have so much stash right now that I feel unable to finish anything much at all.

I'm in LOVE with the yarn you chose for your Monkeys. I also like the waving lace socks. Definitely don't rip them out!

Good luck with figuring out what to plant in front of your home. The computer rendering looks great though. Looks like poppies to me, but have you considered nasturtium?

Hi! I meandered over here from ISE4 with ulterior motives. Would you please, PLEASE tell me what scarf pattern you knit for your pal? I've been ogling it ever since you started posting pics, and I've GOT to knit that for myself or someone else. I'd really appreciate the pattern reference! Thanks so much!
