Part of that was because I was feeling a little uninspired, probably because I have been sick since before Christmas. There appears to be a couple of different cold strains going around town, and I have been fortunate enough to catch at least two of them. Yay, me.
And you know how knitting is when you're sick--not very fun. Plus, with the constantly running nose and the sneezing--it wouldn't have been pretty.
But on to the photos! And Christmas knitting stuff!
My wonderful sister-in-law
Cheryl got me Boathouse and Vintage Floral, both from
Piece of Beauty (love, love, love her yarn!) You see only one skein of Vintage Floral here because my cat Oliver went batshit crazy and completely and utterly destroyed one of the skeins. Bad cat! I am waiting for a replacement.
The two skeins of the red in the photo are Claudia's Handpainted, which I bought for myself. Shut up! They were on sale! 40% off even.
Cheryl also got me the Kristen hat kit from
Bea Ellis Knitwear. I picked the colors to go with my winter coat, which is camel. Oooh, it will be so pretty! Cheryl's the best.
As far as knitting-related gifts, I also got
Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles, the Stich n Bitch 2007 desk calendar, and the Knitting Pattern a Day calendar. Not bad!
I bought myself some Schaefer Anne just the other day. I needed some inspiration. I'm thinking Embossed Leaves for this--very earthy.
The really big news is that my law partner, Eric, (check out his new
knitting blog) and I have moved into a real-life office. For the last three years, we have been practicing out of the spare bedroom in my house, partly out of convenience, and partly out of necessity. Some of you may remember from a
previous post that the majority of the law I practice is through a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. So, because we do a lot of traveling to cover the entire northeastern corner of the state, we didn't feel an office was strictly necessary.
But another of the contract attorneys with our organization had an office-sharing arrangement he was looking to fill, so the week after Christmas, we moved right in. It's been so nice, and such a change, but in a really good way!
Isn't it pretty? It looks a lot more personalized and put together now, but this gives you a pretty good idea of the new digs. Definitely a change from my spare bedroom with the cat-vomit stains on the floor.
Because my husband and I have been sharing a car for the last three years, we decided it was time to get a second car. Paul always drove the car to his office--because I worked from home and had my partner Eric for any necessary transportation, it worked relatively well for a long time, although I realize now how restricted and trapped I felt sometimes. Having a car is a definite freedom that we tend to take for granted.
And, of course, I whipped up some dishrags for general office use. I just couldn't resist.
And, to celebrate the new office, and my birthday on Wednesday, my darling family sent me a beautiful flower arrangement today, and I love it. It smells so good and there are pink beads sticking out all over it. What's not to love?
Oh! And Elly got a haircut (see previous post for comparison). About time, ya hippie!
This has been quite the long post, and I'm sure no one has read til the end, but I guess that's what happens when you neglect the old blog for such a long time. I vow to do better in the future! But don't hold me to that.
