Introducing...

...my newest purchase.

Here's how it happened. I have been thinking about a wheel for a while, but was hesitant to get one because I wasn't sure how much I would like it, whether it would be something I would keep up with, whether I wanted to devote the time and money to yet another hobby, etc.

Yesterday my mom, Eric, and I went to visit Ann, who just got a wheel in January. We tried it out, played around with it a bit, then went home.

When I got home, I checked craigslist and found a local woman who was selling her three-year old Ashford Kiwi for $200.00. I emailed her, then called her and Eric and I went this morning to check it out. Two hours later, I was back home with my new spinning wheel!

Dody, the seller, sent me home with lots of different kinds of fibers to try too: some silk, some mohair, some angora, and several varieties of wool. And a book and a niddy-noddy, and a bottle of homemade wine, which Eric and I promptly polished off.

So all in all, a productive Sunday!

I am jealous of your new purchase! :)

I cannot wait to see your spinning progress. Have you ever done any before?

How great that you found such a lovely wheel and lots of fiber right here in town on the first day you looked!
Now I can't wait to see your progress. Ann's doing amazing work already, isn't she!

Oh, I want one too! It's so seductive just WATCHING someone spin. But I can barely find the time to knit...

What a generous lady! Was the wine good? Did it enhance the spinning? Hee hee....

Ohhhhh! I saw your post about the wheel on Ravelry and was hoping you'd get it. What a score to get the extra fibers (and wine) too! When does Eric get his?

Oh, you are a lucky girl. I want to learn to spin so badly. I have to be patient, I just don't have the time to devote to it...yet. I have put your Malbrigo in my car so that I will have it with me next time I see you.

Congratulations! I highly recommend the Start Spinning book by Maggie Casey. It's perfect for beginning spinners. I just got my book yesterday.
